The SILVA 5-6400/360 is a full-sized baseplate compass with graduations in Mils* for experienced navigators and used by NATO Forces around the world.
Additional features include measuring scales for positioning (GPS), integrated adjuster for magnetic declination, magnifying lens and rubber feet for precision map work. This compass has a luminous graduation ring and markings for night use, giving up to 4 hours of light once activated by daylight/flashlight. The scale lanyard and slope card makes it easier to quickly calculate distances.

Mils compasses are divided into 6400 divisions rather than the standard 360 degrees. Mils compasses are largely used by the military for calculation of range and scale – for example two objects that appear to be 100mils apart and are 1000m away from the observer are around 100m apart on the ground.
